It has been a while since I took any photos, well that’s not entirely true. Mystery DIY Man and I went to Europe and I took hundreds (possibly) thousands of photos. I haven’t been able to convince myself to look through them all yet, but I have been set a challenge¬†Europe in a Nutshell – ten photos that cover my whole trip. Seven weeks in 10 photos, can’t be that hard, surely?

Anyways, on to these photos. Photo Guy and I went on a weekend “escape” to Auckland, or more importantly Orewa a week ago. We headed up to see Wicked and try out a few restaurants (more about that another time), but we also found some time on the Sunday to escape the rat race a bit and head up to a few of my favourite childhood haunts; Goat Island and Tawharanui. Both are marine and scenic reserves north of Auckland that have been the source of many childhood memories.

I didn’t get many pictures at all, just enjoyed a bit of a wander and an explore. It was nice taking someone else around and showing them a few exciting things like giant rock pools and hermit crab wars. I trust Photo Guy has lots of much more exciting photos over on his site that you can check up on. I was just quite taken with a pair of shags I found at Goat Island.
